A girl and her dog...

Today I was going through my portfolio and found a few more portraits that I have done recently. Oh, how the years have passed! Now I have more portraits than I can count. I would love to post each and every one of them but of course I need to spend the time lighting and photographing the others which will take time, lots of time. Anyway, this is one a favorites that I did of a friends little girl and puppy. This is so very contrary to many of my other drawings which is probably why it stands out to me. It's funny because the puppy looks a little angry which is understandable as he is being squeezed over-zealously by this sweetie! But who can resist a girl and her dog!

Welcome 2012.. A new beginning/ A new Relaunch

Wow!! It's been about 3 1/2 years now since I even put a blog up or posted anything at all. Even before I wasn't the best blogger because I figured I was not the blogging type but here I go!

It's a new year and I have a new business I am launching... Blonde Lilly Creations. It is a relaunch of a business I started years ago. I will be doing portraits once again starting with children. This is really kind of a departure from some of my most recent art, which is mostly surrealistic nudes. I realize this is such a limited business but is also exciting for me as I have been doing portraits for clients since I was in High School! (so very long ago) I figure, many people pay for photographs and treasure them forever but a somewhat forgotten media is an artistic hand drawn portrait. For now I am posting a few of my portraits in higher resolution and more vivid contrast. I really do try to make a portrait more interesting/artistic rather than just a dead on photo style representation. Please take a look. This is something I love and am very passionate about.

Let's get nude...

Oh, I love nudity...that is in art. I have added a few nude study's I that have done.. Amazingly when I looked I found that I have so many! One of the most interesting and helpful things an artist can do is to work with a live model. I know for me a live model gives me the best chance of catching something interesting. There is nothing more valuable than seeing the lines, shadows, and light shifts on the human body. The contours and changes even when someone just takes a breathe is so astounding as it pertains to creations. The human body really is a beautiful thing for many reasons...

The surreal life...or so it seems

I absolutely love realism mixed with imagination. Sometimes I love to play around with whats in my brain and just draw without any reference. I don't think I have to explain which of these was done strictly from my imagination and what had reference material. The biggest thing to remember always is if using only your imagination always keep a consistent light source. These are images of different mediums which I love. I always remember that sometimes it's a good release to just let go and draw what feel...
